Connect Stripe to get paid
The Payments add-on is $9 per month.
Where: Web or mobile app, for coaches
Steps
If you work in an organization and your org admin turned off coach access, you see "Your organization admin manages payments." Ask your org admin for help. Only solo coaches and org admins can turn on the add-on. Coaches in an organization ask their org admin.
Tap the plus button, then tap Payments.
If you see Payment processing, the add-on is not on yet. Tap Subscribe now. The add-on is $9 per month, plus 3.9% + $0.30 per transaction. In the payment form that opens, tap Subscribe — $9/month.
On the Connect Stripe screen, pick your country under Business country. Pick the country where the person or business that receives payouts is legally based. You can pick United States, Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, Mexico, France or Germany.
Tap Connect with Stripe. Stripe opens in your browser. Finish the steps there.
Return to the app. If you see Incomplete Stripe setup, tap Complete setup and finish the steps Stripe asks for. If you see Stripe verification in progress, Stripe is reviewing your account. This usually takes 24 to 48 hours.
Next you may see an identity check. See "Verify your identity on mobile" below.
You can also turn on the add-on from your account. Tap the plus button, then Settings, then Account. Under Add-ons, find Payments and tap Enable.
Verify your identity on mobile
After you connect Stripe, you may need to pass an identity check. You cannot create packages or payment requests until it is approved.
Tap the plus button, then tap Payments.
If the title says Verify identity, read the screen. It says "Complete a quick identity check before creating packages or payment links."
Tap Verify identity. Stripe Identity opens. Finish the steps there.
Return to the app. If the title says Identity verification in progress, wait a few minutes, then tap Refresh status.
If the title says Identity verification failed, read the line that starts with "Reason:". Tap Retry verification.
Common questions
How long does Stripe take to approve me?
If you see Stripe Verification in Progress, Stripe is reviewing your account. This usually takes 24 to 48 hours. You can take payments once Stripe approves you.
What does it cost?
Demotu keeps 1% of each payment your clients make. Stripe also charges its own card fee. The page where you subscribe to the add-on shows "$9 /month" and "+ 3.9% + $0.30 per transaction." A few organizations have a custom Demotu rate.
Can I change my country later?
No. You choose it once, when you connect.
What if identity verification keeps failing?
The message shows a line that starts with "Reason:". You can try again, or ask Demotu support to review your account by hand.
I am part of an organization. Whose Stripe account is used?
Your organization's. The whole organization uses one Stripe account. If an org admin turned off coach access, you see "Your organization admin manages payments." Ask your org admin for help.
Which currency do clients pay in?
US dollars.
Why can I not tap Request or Packages?
Both stay greyed out until Stripe is connected and verified. Subscriptions is always open.
Where do I change my bank account or payout settings?
On the web app. The Payments screen shows "Manage account & payouts" with a note to visit Demotu on the web.
How long does it take?
The screen says this usually finishes within a few minutes.
What if it keeps failing?
The screen says to try again or ask Demotu support to review your account by hand.
Can I still set up other things while I wait?
You can finish setup. Packages and payment requests unlock after approval. The screen also says payouts use a 7-day rolling availability delay.
